Updating WemX
Update WemX to a new release from the admin panel or the command line, safely.
WemX checks GitHub for new releases every 30 minutes. When one is available, the admin dashboard shows an Update available notice. Updates are downloaded from the official wemxnet/wemx releases only.
What an update changes
| Updated | Never touched |
|---|---|
| Application code and assets | .env (your configuration and encryption key) |
| Vendor dependencies and config shipped with the build | storage/ (uploads, logs, cache) |
database/database.sqlite | |
.git |
Update steps
Back up first. On Admin → Updates, use Database backup to download a SQL export of your database. Also keep a copy of your .env file.
Read the changelog. Each release in the timeline shows its changelog and whether it's a pre-release.
Install the release.
Go to Admin → Updates, pick the release and click Install release. You need the admin.settings.index permission.
From your WemX folder:
# Choose a release interactively
php artisan app:update
# Or install a specific tag without prompts (for scripts)
php artisan app:update --tag=v3-beta-0.1.1 --forceRun migrations and clear caches.
php artisan migrate --force
php artisan optimize:clearRestart the queue worker so it loads the new code:
sudo systemctl restart wemxWemX v3 is in beta. Pre-releases can contain breaking changes, so test updates on a staging copy first when you can.
Updating extensions
Extensions installed from the integrated marketplace are checked for updates daily. Update them from Admin → Marketplace → Installed. See Extensions & Marketplace.
