Settings

Every application-wide setting in WemX, what it does and when to change it.

All application-wide settings live in Admin → Settings. The page has one tab per area. Changes apply as soon as you save. Each field shows when it was last changed.

Some infrastructure values, such as the database, APP_URL, the license key and the active theme, live in the .env file rather than in the admin panel. See Environment values below.

Application

SettingWhat it does
Application NameShown in the header, page titles and emails.
Company AddressYour business address. It appears on invoices.
Default LanguageThe language guests see. Logged-in users see the language saved on their own account.
Application TimezoneUsed for every date shown in the panel, in emails and in scheduled tasks. Use a PHP timezone identifier such as Europe/Amsterdam.
Default CurrencyThe base currency. Prices are entered in it, balances are kept in it, and revenue is reported in it. Customers can browse in other currencies, but everything is stored in the base currency.
Default Email ThemeThe design used for outgoing emails. See Emails.

Branding

Upload your Application Logo and Favicon. Uploaded files are also listed in the image library at Admin → Settings → Images, where you can reuse them, for example as package or category icons.

Metrics & Options

These settings control the billing automation.

SettingDefaultWhat it does
Date Formatd M Y H:iThe PHP date format used across the app. A live preview is shown next to the field.
Renewal Reminder—How many days before an order's due date the customer gets a renewal reminder email.
Suspension Period3 daysHow many days after the due date an unpaid order is suspended.
Termination Period7 daysHow many days after the due date an unpaid order is terminated. It must be longer than the suspension period.
Delete Terminated Orders PeriodOffOptionally delete terminated orders after a number of days, to keep the order list clean.

In the current beta, Renewal Reminder and Delete Terminated Orders Period are saved but no scheduled task acts on them yet. Suspension and termination are fully automated.

Termination deletes the service on the server and can't be undone. Choose a termination period that gives customers enough time to pay.

Payments & Invoicing

SettingWhat it does
Invoice ID FormatThe pattern for invoice numbers. Placeholders: {id}, {year}, {month}, {day}. Default: INV-{year}-{id}.
Invoice ID PaddingPads {id} with zeros. With 4, IDs become 0001, 0002 and so on.
Default Invoice ThemeThe layout used for invoice PDFs. Every installed invoice theme is listed.
Billing From DetailsThe sender block printed on invoices: company name, address, tax ID and contact details.

Taxes

Controls whether and how sales tax or VAT is charged. Tax rates themselves are managed per country under Admin → Tax Countries. Both are covered in Taxes.

SettingWhat it does
Enable Sales TaxTurns tax calculation on or off.
Include Tax In PriceIf on, your package prices already include tax and the tax is worked out from the price. If off, tax is added on top at checkout.
Enable Sales Tax ExemptionBusinesses that enter a company name and tax ID at checkout don't pay tax (reverse charge).
Verify VAT IDChecks EU VAT IDs against the European Commission's VIES service before granting the exemption.
Always Taxable CountriesCountries where the exemption never applies, typically your own country.
Exclude Gateways for Tax CalculationGateways that never get tax added, such as gateways that handle tax themselves. The Balance gateway is excluded by default so top-ups aren't taxed twice.
Allow Client PDF InvoicesLets customers download PDF invoices from the client area. Admins can always download them.

Authentication

SettingWhat it does
Enable RegistrationsAllow or block new sign-ups. Existing customers can still log in.
Require AddressCustomers whose address is missing or incomplete must complete it before they can continue. Turn this on if you need addresses for tax or invoicing.
Block Reserved UsernamesStops people registering usernames such as admin or support. The list lives in config/reserved-usernames.php.

Extension settings

Extensions can add their own settings tabs. They appear under Third Party in the settings sidebar once the extension is enabled.

Environment values

These are set in .env in your WemX folder. Run php artisan config:clear after you change them.

KeyPurpose
APP_URLThe public URL of your installation. It's used to build links in emails and gateway callback URLs, so it must be correct.
LICENSE_KEYYour WemX license key. You can also update it from Admin → License.
APP_THEMEThe client area theme (folder in resources/client_area). Default: default.
APP_ADMIN_THEMEThe admin area theme (folder in resources/admin_area). Default: default.
FORCE_HTTPSForces generated URLs to use https. Turn this on behind a proxy or load balancer.
